Quest to live Waste Free

I have always been conscious of the environmentally friendly set of people out there.  And I always thought “oh how nice”.  Over the last couple of years, I’ve become more aware of my negative impact on the environment.  I have always felt defeated regarding becoming green.  Because I want everyone on Earth to do it together.  And here was my epiphany…that I can only change MY habits.  I only have control over what I do.

And so starts my new quest, to become as waste free as possible.  I say as possible merely because it is not an easy feat to accomplish.

There are seemingly simple things that everyone can do to become less wasteful.  Because no one can go waste free all at once, I decided to start small.

Here is what I have done over the past week to be less wasteful:

*I have committed to bring my own cup when visiting Starbucks, and to bring my own water in my nice glass water bottle I just had to have.  It doesn’t seem like a lot, but that’s 7 water bottles and 7 plastic cups each week that aren’t going into the trash.

*Bringing my fabric shopping bags with me EVERY TIME to the store.  Every time I do, that’s at least one less bag in the trash.

*I started to buy in bulk.  This cuts down on packaging waste.  When you think about it, everything is over packaged.  I just more things were available this way 😦

These are just a few ways that one can reduce their waste.  I’m excited about starting this journey on my way to a less wasteful lifestyle.

Welcome 2015!

This will absolutely be a fabulous year.  Here is a list of things that I hope for the coming year!

1.  I hope for more awareness regarding Dolphins and Whales in captivity.  And for more awareness regarding the Taiji dolphin hunts.  I am at times afraid to speak my mind out of fear of ridicule.  But this year, I have to be brave.

2.  I hope that my friends and family have a healthful year.  My life is nothing without them.

3.  I hope to get more involved with music.  I will strive to play more vinyl and pick up my guitar more often.  Music is good for the soul.

4.  I hope that I remain grateful for everything I have.  Happiness grows from gratitude.

All in all, I’m looking forward to this year.  I have no idea what is coming, but I can’t wait to find out.
